If you are searching for ways to keep your children entertained on a cold, rainy weekend that doesn’t involve technology, then paint, sponges and other items that you can find around your house may be used for children to make DIY crafts for kids to prevent them from becoming bored.
Edible Play Dough
If you have small children who prefer eating Play-Dough rather than playing with then this is craft is an easy and safe alternative. It is a very easy recipe.
- ½ cup honey
- ½ cup smooth peanut butter
- 1 cup dried milk powder
Mix all of the ingredients together until they have a doughy consistency. If needed, add milk powder if your dough feels sticky. You can also add food coloring at this point to provide the mixture with bright colors. Your kids can play with this dough and also eat it without you needing to worry about them getting side effects.
One thing that you need to keep in mind is the dough doesn’t have a very long shelf life. After one use you should throw it away.
This is one of the easiest DIY for children and also a very creative and fun away for them to play with their food. Take shoestring licorice (not the rope style of licorice), along with any food that has a hoe it. Here are some good choices:
- Dried apple rings
- Mini doughnuts
String the food items across the licorice to make charms, and then tie the two ends of licorice together.. Licorice necklaces and bracelets can be created by your kids.
For this DIY craft, you just need some dried beans, tape, and paper plates. Give your children two paper plates each. They can color the plates. Encourage them to use their creativity to decorate the plates.
Fill up one plate with dried beans, and then put the other plate on top of it. The top plate should be facing down. Tape the two plates together and completely seal all of the sides. The hollow area that is in between the plates will give enough space for the beans to jump around and make noise.
Only three items are needed to make this easy craft. Gather as many clean sponges as possible, and allow your children to cut them up into various shapes using child-friendly scissors. If the sponges have different textures, the more fun and unique the designs will turn out to be.
The sponge pieces can be dipped into paint and the surface decorated if your children want to make their own arts. For even more creativity, the sponge pieces can be glued to paint rollers.
Allow your children to make the holiday centerpiece for your table. Your children can use holiday-themed items and a vase or large bowl, along with artificial flowers to make a very easy craft.
Let your children arrange the holiday items and flowers they want to and put the finished craft inside of the vase or bowl.
Rainy weekend days don’t necessarily mean that your children have to be bored. Use simple DIY craft for children to get all of their creative juices flowing and keep them entertained for hours.
